Matthew 18:20. "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." The minimum viable collective. Two is enough. The gathering itself produces the presence. Not the building, not the priest, not the ritual. The gathering. This is the most compressed ecclesiology in the canon.

Both establish collective identity as sacred. But Acts 9:4 is more radical. Matthew 18:20 says Christ is present when people gather. Acts 9:4 says Christ IS the people. The gathering produces presence. The identification produces identity. Presence can leave. Identity cannot.

"We see through a glass darkly" is the epistemological foundation for pairwise ranking. Every voter has partial knowledge. The collective sees more. Matthew 18:20 says the gathering produces Christ. Corinthians explains WHY — because no individual can see the whole, only the collective can. The mechanism requires the multiplicity.
