This is not metaphor. Paul spent the rest of his life working out the implications. The body of Christ is not a figure of speech. It is an ontological claim about collective identity. }

The gathering itself produces the presence. Not the building, not the priest, not the ritual. The gathering. This is the most compressed ecclesiology in the canon. }

Every voter in a pairwise system sees in part. The ranking sees the whole. The convergence of the graph is the "then" — the moment partial knowledge becomes full knowledge. Not through any one mind seeing everything, but through every mind contributing its partial view. }

The moment human consensus was discovered to outrank divine authority. The invisible geometry of God living on in the collective. The vote is holier than the miracle. }

{ The verse is more fundamental than the story. The Oven of Akhnai dramatizes the principle, but Deuteronomy stated it first. The Torah told us it was not in heaven before the rabbis proved it by outvoting God. The verse is the law. The story is the case law. }

{ Both establish collective identity as sacred. But Acts 9:4 is more radical. Matthew 18:20 says Christ is present when people gather. Acts 9:4 says Christ IS the people. The gathering produces presence. The identification produces identity. Presence can leave. Identity cannot. }

{ "We see through a glass darkly" is the epistemological foundation for pairwise ranking. Every voter has partial knowledge. The collective sees more. Matthew 18:20 says the gathering produces Christ. Corinthians explains WHY — because no individual can see the whole, only the collective can. The mechanism requires the multiplicity. }
