A mechanism can remain ordinary, corrigible, and fully exposed to failure, and still become the site of an unexpected good turn no one had the right to predict. That would be eucatastrophe here: not that the ranking system is the messiah, but that through a humble structure of comparison and correction, plural voices become more reconcilable than history said they should. The grace would not consist in the mechanism becoming sacred. It would consist in something genuinely healing happening through it without being reducible to it. }

{ These are paired disciplines, not opposites in the sense that one cancels the other. Epistemic-capture warns that sacred framing can colonize error correction and make the mechanism harder to judge. Eucatastrophe keeps critique from collapsing into sterile cynicism by leaving open the possibility that a fully corrigible, human-made form could still host an unexpected reconciliation. Danger says: do not make the mechanism unfalsifiable. Hope says: do not make history incapable of surprise. }

{ Substitution is the mistake of treating mechanism as if it simply replaced revelation, Spirit, or messiah. Eucatastrophe names a more faithful possibility: the mechanism need not be the thing itself in order to become the site where something better than expected happens. A bridge is not the kingdom. But grace may still cross it. }
