Which is greater: messiah?

~/epistemic-capture
Messianic framing is not dangerous merely because it is grandiose. It is dangerous when it changes how the project handles evidence. Once the mechanism is imagined as the vessel of fulfillment, criticism starts to feel like blindness, failure starts to feel like temporary resistance, and adoption starts to masquerade as vindication. The project is no longer just making claims about the world. It is becoming harder to judge by the world. That is epistemic capture: sacred charge colonizing error correction.

~/self-sealing-belief
The specific failure mode inside messianic framing. Every success confirms the destiny of the mechanism. Every failure proves the world was not ready for it. Every objection becomes evidence that the critic cannot see the pattern yet. Belief stops being exposed to correction because correction itself gets reinterpreted as part of the story. The system becomes hardest to falsify precisely for the people most devoted to it.
